A Year to Remember

Diversitat Aged Supports’ annual dinner, suitably titled ‘A Year to Remember’, was held on Thursday 24th November. The monumental event was held at the Macedonian Club in Batesford – which is a truly lovely venue.

A Year to Remember is a celebration of the year past. It is an opportunity for our clients and their loved ones, dignitaries, friends and staff to come together over a meal, to dance, and to pay respect to those we have lost with the lighting of a remembrance candle – “In loving memory of friends that are not with us anymore.”

A movie collage of photographs was shown, which was a wonderful display of the many memories captured throughout the year. 150 guests were treated to a sit down three course dinner and drinks. Entrée was a lavish antipasto platter put together by Aged Support staff. For main meal, guests were treated to a delicious meal of Sudanese chicken, chickpea and vegetable curry, rice and salad. Followed by a trio of mini desserts consisting of berry pavlova, profiterole filled with lemon curd, and a blueberry cake. These were made by Chris Lafonara @ Wholefoods, and Teresa Gunn. We thank them both for their talents and hard work.

The evening was mc’d by Diversitat Aged Support Manager, Robyn Martinez, along with Activity Worker, Jo Hargeaves. Both did a fantastic job, thanks ladies! The guests were entertained and danced to the sounds of Los Locos – a Spanish Latin band consisting of our very own CEO Michael Martinez, along with Stella Savy, Tim Fullerton, and Wayne Parker. The atmosphere was wonderful, with a great deal of dancing involved.

The evening also saw the launch of 2016’s Diversitat Christmas Appeal. This year funds raised will be kindly going to Aged Support, to provide much needed social support to elderly people from multicultural communities within the Geelong and Barwon region. To all that generously donated, we thank you with all of our hearts.

Please keep in mind that the appeal is running right up until Christmas, so please help to spread the word!!
