Did your Family Reside at the Norlane Migrant Hostel?

Many of us have families that originally came from another country. These people were integral in building our community and contributing to the development of our industry.

Of special interest to the Northern Community Hub Project are those families or individuals who may have passed through the Norlane Migrant Hostel (formerly the British Migrant Hostel). 
The hostel was the first port of call for hundreds of migrants between late 1940’s to early 1970’s.


To preserve their precious history, we are compiling a record of those who lived or resided for a short time at the Hostel, where they came from and when they first settled. The details will be on permanent file at the new Northern Community Hub (located at the old D.W. Hope site) and will provide an essential record for future historians and people tracing their family trees.
