Advises consumers and traders of their rights and responsibilities under the Fair Trading Act and other relevant legislation. They can negotiate between consumer and trader over issues of faulty goods, unsatisfactory repairs, warranties and lay-bys etc. The program also assists in the preparation of a case for the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). The Consumer and Tenancy Advocate accepts referrals from Consumer Affairs Victoria and aims to mediate in disputes on behalf of the client.
