Diversitat Arts & Events is a key program in strengthening art linkages in Geelong to ensure people from diverse communities are able to participate as arts makers and audiences. With the ongoing arrival of new CALD communities to our region, the Arts program continue to evolve to ensure cultural groups are supported and have the capacity to showcase their own cultural identity.

About the events

Diversitat’s flagship event is Pako Festa which is held in late February each year and attracts over 100,000 people. In 2017, Pako Festa celebrates over 35 years of showcasing cultural diversity to the people of Geelong. This year Pako Festa is on Saturday 25 Februrary and the theme is ‘Food of the World’! But it’s not just about Pako Festa. Throughout the year, Diversitat supports other events including Refugee Week, Geelong After Dark, Food of the World Festival and much more.

Pako Festa

Pako Festa is the largest free celebration of cultural diversity in Australia! Every year, since 1983, it attracts scores of people from our local and cultural communities, professional performers, community groups, schools, businesses, street traders and artists from all walks of life. Refugee Week

Refugee Week is an annual activity held in the month of June each year, which aims to create a better understanding between different communities, and encourage successful integration to enable refugees to live in safety and to continue making a valuable contribution to Australia. It’s a unique opportunity for us all to experience and celebrate the rich diversity of refugee communities through theatre, music, dance, food, film and other events.
