New arrivals visit Anglesea Community Gardens

On a lovely July morning, nine new arrivals visited the seaside town of Anglesea for the very first time. The Anglesea Community Garden Committee had kindly invited Diversitat’s Settlement Services clients to visit their garden, enjoy an Australian lunch and to tour Anglesea.

Upon arrival, clients were warmly welcomed and quickly ushered into the Community Garden to view first hand the abundance of winter crops grown by locals. The firepit was alight, with sandwiches and marshmallows being toasted on the open fire, and freshly baked goods were laid out to be enjoyed by all for lunch.

In an effort to work off the large lunch consumed by all, the group headed to Anglesea and Point Roadknight beaches to experience the best that Australian nature has to offer. The new arrivals were also keen to see some kangaroos so the group headed towards the Anglesea Golf Club where many photos were taken with the local roos.

The Community Development Team would like to wholeheartedly thank the members of the Anglesea Community Garden and in particular their president, Winsome Coutts, for organising the day and presenting the clients with a beautiful herb garden to take home.
