At the Diversitat AGM late last year, Reconnect participant Seif was the recipient of the ‘Tyler Dean – Positive Achievement in Reconnect Award’, which is the participant award recognising achievement in the Reconnect Program.
Seif was pretty excited about receiving this recognition, and had the following to say about what the Reconnect Program had done for him.
“I have been with the Reconnect Program since September 2018. Some of the best things about being a participant in the Reconnect Program is it helped me get out of the house as I was pretty low at the start of the program,” he said.
“Throughout this program and with the help of my mentor, I was provided with a lot of support and I was able to help myself get more confident. I completed my Certificate I in Developing Independence through Diversitat Training, which I feel proud of and am now on my Journey to completing further training in Certificate III in Community Services and also looking at doing volunteer work to help others in the community.”
“My greatest achievement was being told that I was going to be awarded Student of the Year for Reconnect for 2019, I felt strange, weird and a little overwhelmed but was also so happy to receive the award.”
The Reconnect Program is a mentoring program which provides one-on-one support for people aged 17-64, to assist them reengage in education while assisting them to address any other unmet needs. To find out more, visit https://training.diversitat.org.au/reconnect/
