Currently, 1,400 Australians are waitlisted for a life-saving organ transplant. While the majority of Australians (69%) are willing to become organ and tissue donors, only one in three Australians have joined the Australian Organ Donor Register. The Federation of Ethnic Communities Council Australia (FECCA) hopes this project will help to address information gaps, myths and misconceptions about organ donation amongst CALD communities.
FECCA has created a short video to help start a conversation around organ donation. Share it with your friends and family: https://youtu.be/6Ch56lmmIkk
There are many misconceptions around organ donation, one being that some religions may be opposed to it. However, all major religions in Australia see organ donation as a great act of charity!
