On Wednesday 25th July, the Healthy Living Centre played host to an information evening for the upcoming Fun Expo, which will be held at the centre on Saturday 18th August, 10am – 2pm. The Fun Expo is an opportunity for people under the age of 65 who are living with a form of disability, and who are not accessing NDIS due to being ineligible, or not yet have their NDIS plan in place. The aim of the project is to identify and assist those who are at risk, due to limited supports being in place.
The entire Fun Expo project consists of 3 events, and the first was a blast! The name of the project says it all, as the information night was just that, fun! The night consisted of entertainment by local Comedy team ‘Locally Grown Funnies’, door prizes, raffles, supper and the opportunity for participants to express their ideas on activities to be included in the expo; tailoring the upcoming day to the people that the project is for.
From the Fun Expo on Saturday 18th August, a number of lucky participants will be selected for a theatrical night out in Melbourne – including tickets to see Mamma Mia the Musical, accommodation, breakfast and transport. Woweee, mamma meeeya!!!
It is not too late to get on board with the Fun Expo. If you or somebody you know fits the criteria, and would like to come along on the day, give The Healthy Living Centre on 5222 7275 and ask for Kahlee, to put your name down for the fun!
The Healthy Living Centre would like to give special thanks to Luke, Scott and Tim from the fabulous ‘Locally Grown Funnies’ for volunteering their talents and time. It was wonderful entertainment, thoroughly enjoyed by all, made clear by the amount of laughter that filled the room. Also many thanks to the generosity of businesses and individuals that donated gifts to be offered as raffles and door prizes on the night. Thank you, you made everyone feel very valued.
The Fun Expo project is made possible by one off funding from the Department of Health & Human Services, and the Healthy Living Centre’s new Expo Project Worker, Kahlee.
