Youth Programs Update
Futsal – Men’s Social Team
The first round participants of the Diversitat Futsal Academy Program resumed competition with Futsal Geelong. In their first game back, the team celebrated a 7-3 win. The team is ranked second on the ladder with seven more games left this season. A big thanks to the Dawn Wade Foundation for providing funds. Go Team!
Boys’ Camp
Twelve boys, two volunteers and one community development staff member went to Camp Wyuna in Queenscliff for a two-night camp experience.
The weekend was full of fun activities, social interaction and a BBQ night hosted by the Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale communities. Thank you to the Queenscliff Uniting Church and the communities who supported this camp.
Look out for information about the 2020 camp soon!
Bike Education
The Bike Education Program is still going strong, with two sessions out of six already conducted. Over 20 bikes and helmets were given to the newly-arrived clients. All the participants must attend the ‘Bike Smart, Bike Safe’ session before they receive the bikes which have been donated by the Queenscliff Men’s Shed. The program aims to educate newly-arrived communities on road safety and regulations. Thanks to those who funded the program and thanks to the volunteers who have supported this program over the years.
Ride-Out Program
A group of volunteers from Ride for Life Victoria and One Community Development staff took ten CALD Youth to the You Yangs for a mountain bike ride. The boys were challenged to ride up the You Yangs with multiple breaks along the way. The trip went for 2 hours, and was greatly enjoyed by the participants. Thanks to the volunteers for this great experience and thanks to Bellarine for Refugees for providing lunch funds.
