Construction has started on our new Diversability Centre which will be an extension of the Northern Community Hub.
The centre due to be completed June, 2019 will provide programs and services for CALD communities with disabilities who face significant challenges in accessing the National Insurance Disability Scheme due to language and cultural barriers, as well as social isolation and financial disadvantage. The centre is designed for ease of access and mobility and will include 16 open plan work spaces, 1 meeting space and 2 private offices. It will have the capacity for up to 16 staff with the facility being part of a multicultural precinct that includes a Women/Mens Shed; Community Garden; Settlement services; language and training centre; and Healthy Living Centre for age support.
The building could not happen without the greatly appreciated support of The Australian Government Department of Industry Innovation and Science (Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects Stream), Department of Premier and Cabinet, Give Where You Live, Percy Baxter Trust and the Geelong Community Foundation.
