Diversitat staff raise over $42,000 for our community

Since 2013 Diversitat has hosted the Staff Giving program which has enabled our staff to make regular contributions in order to support our community.

As of March this year Diversitat staff have contributed a total of $42,470. What an effort and something we are all very proud of.

It is with excitement that we announce:

• $11,000 has been given to the Gurudwara Sahib Geelong – Sikh Community of Greater Geelong Inc to assist with the costs of establishing their new community centre. During the COVID pandemic the Sikh community worked tirelessly cooking and delivering thousands of free meals to people in our community who had lost their jobs and were struggling to make ends meet. This was done through their Emergency Food Relief program.

• $11,000 to assist with the ongoing crises in Burma. This will be distributed between the Karenni Communal Welfare Committee of Geelong and the Geelong Karen Community Association. The Geelong Karen Community Association are also hosting a fundraiser dinner on Saturday 29 May. For more information: https://bit.ly/2RFfUnY

• $20,000 will go toward the Diversitat Hope Community Garden at the Northern Community Hub site. The Hope Community Garden is an important facility for the local community, a safe area that has given a lot of displaced people a sense of ownership, empowerment and an opportunity to bond with others. Fresh veggies from this garden are also made into nutritious meals for our elderly clients.
