The Diversitat Emergency Relief Program’s 3 year reoccurring funding was cut by the Federal Government in December 2018 and then extended, temporarily, until December 2019.We have been able to keep the program running at a bare minimum though generous donations. The current program is open to all within the Barwon region who are experiencing financial crisis.
Access to the current Emergency Relief Program is;
- Wednesday mornings, between 11-2pm, there is a “Drop In” crisis food parcel service at the Diveristat Hub; no appointments necessary; clients need to register with reception on arrival.
- Limited appointments are available on a Tuesday; clients need to call on a Monday
Our Emergency Relief service also affords an invaluable opportunity to provide clients with information, advocacy, general support and referral to other services within the local community, such as Family Violence, Family Support, Mental Health, Housing, Parenting and Disability services. This is empowering for our clients and for the wider Geelong Community. For some clients we are the only positive connection they have to the community and the support we provide is crucial to maintaining their overall wellbeing.
