Last Tuesday, Diversitat held a dinner for local asylum seeker families in the Geelong region. This wasn’t like your average dinner party, with many of our guests spending the afternoon in the kitchen preparing their favourite dishes for everyone to enjoy. On the night there was a huge variety of food on offer, including dalma, Persian and Iranian kebabs, chicken biryani, and kabuli palaw. Not only did everyone leave with full bellies, but with smiles and newfound friendships with other families.
Diversitat would like to give a big thank you to everyone who came and made the event possible. Special thanks to the Give Where You Live Foundation, the Belmont Rotary Club, The Wesley Centre Asylum Seeker Welcome Place and all our regular food donators who make our little asylum seeker foodbank possible.
We would also like to thank all of our amazing dinner party cooks who gave up their time (and culinary skills!) to cook us up an amazing multicultural feast!
