The JOB Club for Youth at Diversitat Hub has been running now for three terms.
It runs every TUESDAY (during school terms) from 3:30-5:30pm in the Computer Lab at the Diversitat Hub.
It’s drop-in, so young people come when they need to. It has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The focus of the JOB CLUB is to provide information, resources and support to young people that strengthens their employability.
Training opportunities, casual/part-time work opportunities, short courses, volunteering roles and various youth programs can be identified and explored.
The JOB CLUB for YOUTH is not a career advice or counseling service. Nor is it a Jobs Active/ JSA type service.
The focus is on individualised, one to one support with what the young person requests assistance with.
Sometimes this can be assisting a newly arrived young person set up their email, assisting with a lengthy online application, completing their resume or practising for a job interview- it varies greatly.
There are currently seven fantastic volunteers, however more are welcome. Capacity in the computer lab is for 12 young people.
Good news! One young man and another young woman from North Geelong Secondary College who received assistance at Job Club with their applications recently obtained employment at Corio McDonalds.
