It was a room full of emotion and goodwill at Diversitat’s Refugee Week Fundraiser Dinner.
The historical dining room of The Geelong College provided a beautiful setting, as attendees enjoyed delicious Iraqi cuisine and listened to Farah Al-Dabbas as she shared her emotive personal story of heartache and peace.
There was much generosity and laughter too as our auctioneer encouraged guests to support the cause and bid on some fabulous items.
With your help we were able to raise over $27,000 which has now been directed to our ‘Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrants over 5 Years Assistance Program’.
It is heart-warming to know there is a huge amount of support for our clients and the work we do at Diversitat. It too is uplifting to see people come out and make the effort to learn about the plight of refugees and help out.
We would particularly like to thank our key sponsors: Adroit, Deakin University, Worksafe, Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, Rendine Constructions, Filipino Australian Friendship Association, and Coulter Roache.
Following on from the success of the evening, it is our aim to make this an annual fundraiser targeting particular programs in need at Diversitat. We already have some ideas for next year.
Thank you everyone who attended and helped in any way towards the successful event.
