Volunteers required at Licola Camp for refugee children

Licola camp is looking for volunteers to attend a five day camp from Monday 8th April 2019 to Friday 12th April 2019. As a volunteer you will be supervising 10 children from our refugee communities, as well as other underprivileged children, aged between 8 and 11 years

Title of position: Volunteer-house parent/assistant house parent or assistant activity leader or general duties at camps for disadvantaged children. We always need lots of volunteers for our Sponsored camps that are held during the school holidays.

 Description of the position: Licola camps are manned by volunteer personnel. Children are sponsored to the camps by the Lions Clubs or welfare agencies.

 Description of the tasks involve: Supervision of and interaction with children aged 8-11 years.

 Description of the experience or skills or qualifications or personal qualities to perform the position: Care for children is paramount. Social welfare, outdoor education, first aid qualifications would be welcome. Swimming certificates useful. Ability to work as part of a team. Range of activities includes high ropes, abseiling, canoeing, swimming, craft, music, archery, concerts, sports and mini hikes. This is a great learning experience for those interested in a family support career in the future.

Specific days: Monday 8th April 2019 to Friday 12th April 2019

An overview of training or orientation provided: Full day training involves familiarization with the project and general background and camp specific training with regard to volunteer responsibility and the camp program. Details of orientation days will be forwarded to all volunteers.

 An overview of reimbursements available to the volunteer: None. Free transport to and from Licola, meals and accommodation are provided free of charge.
